Our Story

010A friend of mine one time asked me “what are you going to do at this crossroad in your life”?  To my reply “I am going to help you build this cabin if that is okay”.  He laughed and told me I should go work in Antarctica.  I laughed and said “yeah right”.  Six months later there I was getting off an C-17 Globemaster III on the ice runway at McMurdo Station, Ross Island, Antarctica.

When I came home from Antarctica to help my family in 2013.  A friend asked me “what are you going to do now”? He then gave me the idea of starting a canvas wall tent company.  As the idea set in the vision grew as well as the desire and passion to own a business.  Like everything I do, it was going to be all or nothing.  I do nothing half-hearted.

I found a local NC business with over 50 years experience with tents and awnings.  We paired up and now we bring you, Freeman Tents.  No project is too large or unusual for us!  Our team has seen it all and if we haven’t then we welcome the challenge. We have a full metal fabrication shop as well as sewing shop.  We also make our rainflys at our shop in NC.  We want to make everything we can here in the USA!

003We love the outdoors!  We want to share that love with the world.  We are here to encourage, inspire and teach about outdoor recreation and homesteading. Whether it is hunting, family camping or celebrating Sukkot we have you covered… literally!

We not only make them, we use them too.  This is a family owned business and will be passed down from generation to generation.  The dream of working for yourself and shaping not only your future but the future of your family.  We are building a legacy.  A small business with big ambitions.

For the near Future

The vision of this company and what we will accomplish has grown so much since we first embarked on this dream.

We are already planning new models to bring to you.  We are in the planning stage of creating a learning center for primitive living and homesteading.  This will be a campus dedicated to everything outdoors, medicinal herb and foraging for food, primitive shelters and fire, water procurement, land navigation, essential oils classes and much much more!

We are experienced and motivated to bring you the best there is to offer.  I thank you for joining us on this fantastic journey!
